It’s not Robert Pattinson…..it’s certainly not Tobey Maguire, but the man who will wear the red mask into the next installment of Spiderman series is Zac Efron. The 22-year-old Zac Efron came into the spot light after his super hit musical The High School Musical. He is going to replace Tobey Maguire in the Spiderman 4, who became a heart-throb for playing the ‘Friendly neighbor’ Spiderman for 3 consecutive time.
In fact it was Tobey who suggested the name of Zac to the Universal Pictures, when he decided to quit his signature character. “After dumping Spidey, Tobey then came to the rescue by recommending that Zac should take over his role,” revealed a source.
The producers liked his recommendations because they thought that Zac is quite famous among the teenagers, and he has a huge fan following. Also, her co-star inHigh School Musical, Vanessa Hudgens is being considered to replace Kirsten Dunst, who played Mary Jane, the love interest of Spiderman.
“It would be a great coup to land her as well,” a source said.
It was rumored that Tobey Maguire has left this franchise for ‘The Hobbit’ and Robert Pattinson is going to step into his shoes.

Marc Webb is Spider-Man Reboot Director

LOTS of news about the upcoming Spider-Man 4/Spider-Man Reboot in the news this past week.
First off, ironically-named director Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) officially signed on to be the man behind the lens for the "reboot" of Spider-Man. Spidey 4 is deader than Uncle Ben, as the supposed 300 Million dollar budget and Sam Raimi's insistent use of Golden Age Villains in contemporary tentpole films earned him the axe.
This "reboot" will instead use a budget of only 80 Million, vastly smaller than any of the other films, and will feature a cast of relative unknowns, so you can squash the rumors of Joseph Gordon Levitt, who Webb directed in "summer." The story will also be pared down and center on Peter Parker once again back in high school, who is trying to deal with the teeny angst of knowing his Uncle was killed when he could have done something about it.
The new film will be based more closely on the "Ultimate" line of Spider-Man comics, where there is more characterization and villains and their diabolical plots take a serious backseat.
The film will use that James Vanderbilt script and is set for a summer 2012 release.
It's going to be interesting to see just how this all works out, and whether or not will be out after a single film (he has sequel rights.) And whether or not the lack of any huge action sequences in a tentpole superhero franchise is actually a good idea.
If you ask this Examiner, Sony wants to use the name of Spider-Man to do another 600 mil in business and spend alot less doing it. They could care less about the film or its fans.
Expect more news soon.

I think I like this...where there is more characterization in his teens period. But would it still be possible that there would be NOT-for-teens fighting scenes? I love a good story together with a hardcore fighting scenes... =)...please?!...

Robert Pattinson to remain a vampire, no chances of converting into Spider man!

It has been chaotic since the rise of the rumors about Pattinson starring in Spiderman 4. Frenzied news websites jumped into action and the rumor mills started churning out “Breaking News” which claimed “reports” saying Robert Pattinson most likely to be Spiderman’s next face.
Well let us be the honored ones to disappoint Rob Pattz’s fans by stating that these so called “reports” are completely false. Robert Pattinson is sticking on to his Twilight series and few other projects like “Bel Ami” with Uma Thurman.

Yup. We already know how Spider-man got his powers. But this is something like (again, I think) taking a more in-depth look on how it started...showing more details, more stories during the early times.
....would it still be possible for them to show hardcore action scenes?!!!...in 3D! =)

Who should lead the next 'Spider-Man'? Begin the debate

As Sony begins its search for a new Spider-Man director and star, comic book aficionados are greeting news of the franchise overhaul the way they react to anything a big studio does with a superhero: with anxious skepticism.
Fans were stunned Monday by the news that director Sam Raimi and actor Tobey Maguire were out as the studio decided to target younger viewers by rebooting the comic-book adaptation.
Sony scrapped its plan for a Spider-Man 4 in 2011 and says the new-look webslinger will hit screens in 2012.
That should give diehard fans plenty of time to go nuts.
"I think people were floored by this because reboots usually happen with franchises that are long in the tooth, like Star Trek," says Access Hollywood's Scott Mantz. "But this franchise isn't eight years old. And the last one made a lot of money."
Indeed, while it wasn't a hit with critics, Spider-Man 3 did $891 million worldwide, the highest-grossing installment of the series.
While Sony has been vague in its reasons for the reboot, it appears the franchise is moving toward an even more teen-friendly crime fighter. The studio says it will go forward on a script by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac), which will put Peter Parker back in high school.
Observers say that while Maguire's replacement isn't shocking (he turns 35 in June), Raimi's removal was a mystery.
"Even though people weren't crazy for Spider-Man 3, Sam Raimi still had a lot of credibility with fans," says Blair Butler of the gaming and tech network G4TV. "You can't say that about a lot of directors."
Some worry that the shift to younger fans "is going to turn Spider-Man into Twilight," says Rob Morley, editor of Comics2Film.com. "Nobody wants to see Taylor Lautner as the next Spider-Man."
So who do they want to see? Observers say the choice of director will be a lot more important than the star, and here are a few that they say are on fans' short list:
•Peter Jackson. After his Lord of the Rings trilogy, Jackson has become Lord of the Nerds. A long shot, as Jackson seems committed to staying in J.R. Tolkien's world.
•James Cameron. He initially wrote a draft of Spider-Man that the studios passed on in the early 1990s. Had his sci-fi opus Avatar flopped, this might not have been far-fetched. Now, though, the director will look to franchise that property.
•Neill Blomkamp. The director of District 9 is already a cult hero among sci-fi geeks and is a Jackson protégé. "He's proven he can handle action and effects laced with deep emotional and thematic elements," Butler says.
•David Fincher. The director of Seven and Zodiac was passed over for Raimi in 2002. "He's a guy fans are wondering, 'What if,' " Worley says.
•Guillermo del Toro. The Pan's Labyrinth filmmaker has as avid a following as Raimi.
Still, even with a proven helmsman, reboots can be tricky. Batman flourished after getting restarted by Christopher Nolan, but attempted reboots of The Hulk and Superman have foundered.
"This is awfully fast for a reboot," Mantz says. "It makes sense, but there are still risks. You risk giving people something they think they've already seen."

Reports: 'Spider-Man 4' indefinitely delayed

Sony has decided to push back the start of production on Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4, a Sony source confirms to Variety. (The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.) The film, starring Tobey Maguire and directed by Sam Raimi, was to have begun shooting in February. The studio does not yet know when the film will get rolling, according to the reports. Last month, Raimi and co. hit the pause button on pre-production in order to do further work on the script. It is now unliklely that Spidey 4 will meet its announced May 6, 2011 release date.

Disney Acquires Marvel
As the year 2009 was leaving, Walt Disney, Co. acquired Marvel Entertainment Inc. after a deal of 4.3 billion dollars was approved by Marvel’s shareholders Thursday, New Year’s Eve.marvel-characters
Disney has promised that there would be no “disneyfication” of Marvel’s properties. The next set of Marvel movies to be released is composed of Spiderman 4, Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers.
Disney is expected to explore almost all Marvel comics characters. Stan Lee himself had also thought the same thing would happen after the merge was first officially announced last August 2009. This will broaden Disney’s portfolio, which has been appealing strongly with girls more than with boys.
There are more than 5,000 characters in the Marvel franchise. Spiderman and Iron Man are now joining Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and, and well, Hannah Montana.
Isaac “Ike” Perlmutter, Marvel’s chief executive and 37% stockholder, will continue to oversee Marvel’s business after the Disney acquisition.
The acquisition of the 70-year old Marvel Entertainment is Disney’s largest acquisition since acquiring Pixar Animations, makers of Toy Story, Finding Nemo, WALL-E and Up.
